Party caricature
This is an example of my party caricature style. When I draw at parties or other events I normally draw about 12-15 people per hour in black and white and about 6-8 per hour in color.
Michael Shorty Robinson grew up in Philadelphia, the seventh of eight kids. The oldest and youngest were girls. He went to Catholic school K-12 and did not have any real art instruction. Shorty learned to draw by doing it over and over. He mastered Snoopy from memory in first grade, and from there went to other cartoons. He always read the newspaper comics and kept them in my school books to draw when school got boring. Started selling drawings in sixth grade to other students for a buck or two. Shorty started working hard on caricature when he started sub teaching art in Philly. His first full time job was teaching art at Camden High School which was a pretty rough place. Right away he started drawing all the students for practice and it took a number of years before he had the confidence to start doing it for money. Shorty still teaches art presently elementary school in Cherry Hill NJ. He has drawn most of the students he's taught. Shorty is available to draw caricatures for parties, special events, or commissions and he still draws and paints realistic portraits.
